Iannuzzi Studio wins two 2023 AIA Michigan Design Awards for LA Dance Project and Briarcliff

Iannuzzi Studio has won two honor awards from the Michigan chapter of the American Institute of Architects for L.A. Dance Project in Los Angeles and Briarcliff in Franklin in the Interiors and Housing categories, respectively. The jury, comprised of members of the Iowa chapter of the AIA, awarded Iannuzzi Studio with two awards. Briarcliff, a high-performance home inspired by the classic form of rural Michigan farmsteads for family passionate about music and theater, took the prize in the Housing category. Commenting on the project, the jury noted “Beautifully sited and detailed home that carefully integrates landscape to extend the home out into the surroundings.” The project is Iannuzzi Studio’s largest completed residential project to date. For L.A. Dance Project, a cutting-edge independent dance company, Iannuzzi Studio exercised innovative space planning and elemental design to transform a former warehouse into an operational hub, practice space, community event space, and performance venue. While meeting a tight timeline and budget, the jury commented “Through minimal means, this project transforms a small industrial building into a new performance space. A study in doing a lot with a little.” Iannuzzi Studio is subsequently working on a second phase given the project’s success and increased demand.
